That giant piece of "art" is hideous. In the commercial that I saw on TV, they have an artist's conceptual drawing of what the pier will look like with the monument...only thing is that the monument in the drawing is in scale with the surrounding buildings. In reality it dwarfs everything at Exchange Place. It's too big, too gaudy and too ostentatious. It lacks class and character and does a monumental disservice to both the memory of the victims of 911 and to Jersey City. Why does the artist not put it in Brooklyn instead of here. Maybe it's because NYC said no! : Well, at least you have admitted that this monument has support, unlike many who claim no one wants it. Fact of the matter is Mr. Tsereteli is a world class artist and his work is beautiful. He will make J. Owen Grundy Pier something that it is not now, useful. Right now the pier is run down, dirty, and in need of repair. It will take millions of dollars that the city doesn't have to repair the pier. It is something that is better than a tax abatement because it is going to put work into a pier that Jersey City owns. People said the Statue of Liberty, the Twin Towers, and the memorial for Princess Diana were ugly and would never have support. All of those things reached greatness. "To the Struggle Against World Terrorism" will rise from J. Owen Grundy Pier to greatness. Deal with it folks there is no stopping it now. : : Not only are the Ugly Teardrop supporters running print ads, they have now bought time for TV ads as well. : : This Russian fellow's concept is a horror and should never foul the beautiful view on the Owen Grundy Pier. : : It's bad enough that we have that horrid Katyn Memorial down at Exchange Place. I hope the City Council does the right thing and stops the Ugly Teardrop !!!
