If the goal of the Hudson County Democratic Organization communication crew was to annoy me, as a Jersey City PG (Pre-Gentrification) character, I'll have
to admit that they were successful. If the goal was to win an election and/or to set the stage for the HCDO to consolidate its influence, the Hudson County
Democratic Organization message mongers were all abject failures.
Sad to relate, whether the Hudson County Democratic Organization bunch are just trying to hold on to their media maven jobs or if they really are suffering
from ossification (or some other degenerative disorder) of the brain, they still don't admit to any mistakes. They are blaming the Governor for a lack of
effort (even though McGreevey did more for them than for anybody else), Bayonne for letting them down (even with a fifty percent turnout), Militello (I'd
guess that his 14% only accounted for relatives, personal friends and the non-aligned that were liable to go either way anyhow), and Jersey City residents
for being unsavory characters all. The last is the real howler, for that was the basis of the HCDO campaign. The Hudson County Democratic Organization
did everything to demonize and insult the population of Jersey City and then expected their support on election day.
Is the entire cast of characters so used to getting whatever they want every place else that now they don't think that they (at the very least) even have
to pretend to respect Jersey City-ites? When Healy ran for Mayor, the North Hudson spinmeisters mailed out pictures of corpses in the street. The votes
went to Schundler. When DeGise ran for Mayor, the Ministers of Propaganda printed up pictures of Cunningham as King Kong rampaging in a garbage-strewn
alley. Glenn won. This ride on the Merry Ground we heard that the sanctuary of the Loew's (which the North Bergen- and Secaucus-based wizards stubbornly
insisted to the very end on spelling as LOWES) was to be ravaged by hordes of Untermenschen. It's sad, but Goebbel-esque rants about bogeymen still scare
those with the mind of a child. Luckily, the voters of Jersey City are smarter than the Hudson County Democratic Organization realizes.
