Jersey City–At about 4:30 June 11, 2003 Hudson County Election officials certified primary results with Anthony Chiappone and Lou Manzo clear winners. Chiappone had 11,054 votes, Manzo, 10,997. Totals leave a comfortable gap of 481 votes between Manzo’s tally and Doria.

Bayonne Mayor and former Assemblyman Joe Doria got 10,516 votes and former Assemblywoman Elba Perez Cinciarelli 9,607. Observers noted the big disparity between Cinciarelli’s total and her running mate indicated little or no support or team approach, more than twice the difference between winning and losing totals.
