In a major turn of events, Jersey City Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham regained
control of the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency during a number of actions at the
JCRA meeting today.
Former chairman, Junior Maldonado was replaced as chair by city council
colleague, Steve Lipski. Maldonado, let the meeting immediately and never returned.
The firm of Scarinci and Hellenbak was equally removed from any role in the
agency.
Sue Mack, the executive director, was summarily put on notice that here
services will not be required after the next four months. She however, will receive
payment to fulfill the obligations of her contract.
This victory is Cunningham's greatest "governmental" victory since his war
began with the Hudson County democratic organization and its head, congressman
Bob Menendez, who sought to use his stature to control redevelopment, and the
ancillary contracts associated with such, in Jersey City.
