Hoboken, NJ –Today marks my official candidacy for Mayor of Hoboken. It is my belief that Hoboken can and will elect a mayor who is competent – a mayor who can assume government duties with authority and integrity. I call upon all citizens of Hoboken to stand up for our city. Now, after four years of careless governance, Hoboken needs your support now more than ever. Hoboken needs a mayor who can revitalize local government and close the book on the problems we have faced and unfortunately still face today. We must put an end to the lack of leadership in Hoboken in order to improve this city and enhance our lives. As a City Council member, I have opposed many of the current administration’s fiscally irresponsible actions and have consistently questioned the Mayor’s judgment. I have proposed diverse initiatives and am persistent in my enthusiasm for honest and effective governance. My work on the City Council is a firm testament to this commitment, the community and my fellow neighbors. Over the past 4 years, I have witnessed a troubling state of affairs at City Hall. There is a serious disconnect between the mayor’s office and the people of the city of Hoboken. Poor leadership and mismanagement of the city’s finances must be stopped now. I dedicate my efforts to: Over the next few weeks, I will present my platform explicitly. I believe the residents of our community deserve an open, honest and responsive government. I believe that control of development is not just a campaign pledge but also an obligation of the Mayor. I also believe that City Hall should not be a patronage mill but a resource center for the effective delivery of municipal services. The residents of Hoboken should know that I expect great things for this city. It’s time to clean up City Hall – and on May 10, 2005, I will do just that!
