I am a lifelong resident of Hoboken. This city is a true home to my family and my friends. I am a business owner and have been fortunate enough to make my living in this great city. The issues and concerns of Hoboken are vital to my life, which is why I watch over this city with caring but vigilant eyes. Over the course of the next two months, it would be my honor to come to know you and for you to learn more about me. MANUEL ORTEGA · 34 years old. · Member of a proud Cuban-American family; mother- Caridad, father- Manuel and sister- Maribel. · My family has owned and operated a dry cleaner’s in Hoboken for thirty years. · Now, I own and operate my own business “Don’t Laugh” Nail Salon on Willow Avenue. · Currently employed as System Administrator for the Mental Health Association in New York City, a non-profit organization. CONCERNS AND ISSUES · Preserving the integrity of small, local businesses. · Curbing the escalating rent prices on Washington Street that have forced many stores to close. · Eliminating parking problems that daunt customers and hurt local establishments. · Creating affordable homes for families and people with moderate incomes. · Honest and effective government. I am a proud citizen of this community and look forward to being an official leader of Hoboken.
