Jerry Letizia,Carl Czaplicki and Jerry Healy are selling Jersey City out and planning to have us subsidize North Bergen. North Bergen has to replace its sewer treatment facilities or build a pipeline from North Bergen to Passaic Valley Sewer Commision to have its sewerage treated. That's a fact. An alternative is to join to Jersey City's sewer system. To join with Jersey City North Bergen should pay a sewer connection fee of over $60 million dollars. But these three stooges have agreed to take only $8 million. Yearly maintenance costs should be $1.7 million. The three stooges, however, have agreed to less than $350,000 per year. How could they agree to such a poor deal when the JCMUA is unable to pay its bills because of United Water's incometent operation of the water system? Well, Jerry Letizia, the chairman of the JCMUA and Carl Czaplicki Mayor Healy's Chief of Staff work for the Vocation Schools in North Bergen and they both owe their jobs to Mayor Sacco and to his supporters. Czaplicki was even appointed to the Passaic Valley Sewer Authority with Mayor Sacco's Senatorial Blessing. Without Sacco Letizia would be a political hack taking up a barstool at PJ Ryan's and Czaplicki would be a frustrated high school teacher who supported losing republican candidates. Czaplicki is a republican, but he's no Ronald Reagon. He will work for both the Democrats and Republican's because he has no convictions. He is an opportunist. More to the point these two have formulated a bad deal to help North Bergen and themselves. Jerry Healy's motives are not as clear.I hope he is merely trying to get some money in to avoid having to raise taxes which he will have to do no matter what he says. Perhaps, the Mayor merely lacks the courage and imagination to get a better deal from North Bergen. On the other hand I suspect Jerry Healy would like to be a judge and living in the heights section of Jersey City Mayor Healy needs Sacco's Senatorial Courtesy and support to achieve it. How very truly sad for us. How tragic for Jerry Healy. Stop advertising yourself as a former judge and prosecutor Jerry. Those professions require courage and selflessness. Two things you lack. I therefore call on Bill Macchi, Janet Gaita, Kathryn Hartye and Howard Jackson the other Commissioners of the JCMUA to summon their courage and do the right thing to oppose this bad deal. None of these Commissioners owe their job to Healy. Also, I call on Jerry Letizia to abstain from voting on this measure as he has a conflict of interest. I call on the other mayoral and council candidates to focus in on this issue and prevent political deal making at its worse. SLEEPLESS AT THE JCMUA
