FORMER DEMOCRATIC AIDE TO MANAGE GOP ASSEMBLY RACE IN HUDSON COUNTY For Immediate Release: May 10, 2005 Contact: Rich Valdes/Clarence Romero (201) 988-4076/201-741-9340 UNION CITY, NJ Assembly candidate Rich Valdes announced the addition of campaign manager, Clarence Romero, to the growing Valdes team. Romero, a Republican, will lead the grassroots effort and volunteer-ism for Valdes's campaign to represent New Jerseys 33rd District. VAldes stated "Clarence brings a lot of campaign experience to the table. He has worked on several winning campaigns for candidates including Rudy Giuliani who ran as a Republican for Mayor of New York City, Bret Schundler's 2001 Republican Primary campaign and several successful Democratic campaigns for, our opponent, Mayor and Assemblyman Brian P. Stack". Clarence is a familiar face in Union City, that will help the campaign move forward in achieving more support within the community." said Valdes. "It is important that the voters know that they have an option. Clarence Romero had several options and he chose to work with my campaign because he knows that the community deserves better service. stated Mr. Valdes. Romero stated "My support for Rich Valdes is driven solely by my belief in how he will improve our community by supporting legislation to reduce property taxes, fight corruption and restore integrity, it's easier said than done, like they say talk is cheap. Let's make it a law, this way no candidate can break there campaign promises. There are two candidates in District 33, both of whom I know very well, and have the highest respect for, my decision to sipport Rich is based by my support for his energy and ideas for NJ in the legislature". Romero further stated "[Stack] had my support as mayor, and to date, he has done many good things for Union City, however running one of the most densely-populated Cities in the country, and being a state legislator at the same time, can be a problem - I see Rich Valdes as the solution to that problem." said Romero. Romero's experience in local government, within the district, and having a relationship with the opposition may prove fruitful to the Valdes camp in the weeks to come. In one of his first acts as campaign manager, Romero attended a meeting with Tom Wilson the State Republican Chairman, to discuss how the party can unite and give the voters of District 33, and Hudson County a choice in there Government. I am excited to talk to families in the community about Rich Valdes and his background, integrity, family values, and fiscal discipline, said Romero. Romero went on to say I look forward to talking more about Rich's ideas to stand up for the taxpayers, and protect the children, and build safer and stronger communities. I am truly against one person holding several elected offices, these offices were created and funded by our Government, because they are needed. I do understand that most of these positions are part time, but they were not all created for one person. Rich Valdes has extensive experience working on legislative casework for Congressman Scott Garrett, and holds a current position as an University Admissions Counselor for the Jersey City Campus of the University of Phoenix. His running mate is Jersey City resident Alejandra Rodriguez. Both Valdes and Rodriguez expect favorable outcomes in the June 7th primary election before they challenge incumbents Brian P. Stack and Albio Sires&n bsp;to represent the 33rd District in the New Jersey Assembly. The 33rd District of New Jersey includes northern Hudson County, including Hoboken, Jersey City, Weehawken, Guttenberg, West New York and Union City. Our Campaign message is simple: Lowering property taxes, and making it a state law "Good Goverment should be for everyone and not for a priviledged few" - Clarence U. Romero
