Frank Hague once was asked why good government candidates nearly never won. Jersey City's political savant replied that the reformers just threw some "bird" up on the ballot and expected people to rush to the voting booths to pull that lever on election day. Campaigns don't work that way. Every household must be familiar with the candidate 364 days before the election -- not just a week or two before. So, what would Frank Hague say about the Fulop win? THAT'S HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED! - - - Someone posted that Fulop's win signifies a dilution of minority political clout. I disagree. Fulop's victory shows that the coy ploy has worn thin of putting an ethnic name in office, but not serving that constituency.
