Brian Stack, Assemblyman for the 33 district and mayor of Union City, recently wrote in the Hudson reporter about president Bush's plan to reform social security.Like most democratic politicians he thinks that ordinary citizens are simply the "ignorant masses". We can't handle the opportunity to invest our hard earned money and he needs to save us from ourselves.Give us a break. The congress enjoys this very option that the president is trying to provide to every citizen but somehow it's ok for them but not us. Democrats distort the facts in their cynical attempt to scare us into believing that they are looking out for us. These are the facts, Bush's plan will not effect anyone over 55 years old , the system stays the same for them. All other tax payers have the "Option" of investing up to six percent of what we pay into social security in the stock market.Sure the market is volatile and some will lose, but it is optional to invest and many of those low income hardworking people that Mr. Stack and his party supposedly represent would be given a shot to succeed that they probably would not have living pay check to pay check. Most democrats are saying we don't have a problem, that social security is not in crisis, thus their alternative plan is merely the status quo. At least Mr. Stack is the first to admit that the democratic solution is to ask the worker to pay more taxes into the system. Thanks, but no thanks. Vote Republican across the board come November.
