Jose Arango has not gotten me any "ad money." Honestly though, he -- along with most anyone else -- is welcome to do so. With extremely few exceptions, everybody gets a sales pitch. As it says above, anybody who wants to sell ads will be paid a commission.

I tell everybody that their ad buys placement, but will not affect the content of the Board.

When Jersey City lost Glenn Cunningham, I didn't hear a single Republican talk about jumping into the conflict between the HCDO, and the splintered Reform Democrats: Tony Chiappone, Kabili Tayari, and John Watson. If a Republican was on the ballot, all I could see it doing was to weaken Tony Chiappone's chances -- which were slim to begin with.

What I'd like to see is even just a FEW Republicans in Hudson County doing SOMETHING instead of LOTS of Republicans doing NOTHING but criticize Jose Arango for not doing enough.

BTW -- particularly now that you've had many months to think about it -- who should have been the Republican candidate for State Senate in the 31st? Last year, did they ever express any desire to run?

And finally, why do you list Joe Mendez before Theresa DeLeon? Don’t you know that it’s supposed to be ladies before gentlemen?

The Hudson County Republicans are very lucky to have Theresa DeLeon as a member. I look forward to the day when she achieves elected office.

I believe that – at the request of Jose Arango – I once gave Joe Mendez a lift home during a severe rain storm – even though it was late and around five miles out of my way. Other than that, I don’t know anything about Joe Mendez. Why do you think he should be the Hudson County Republican chair?

: I am writing in response to recent posts regarding Jose Arango. Jose is everything a County Chairman shouldn't be. He has no back bone and is a shyster. His wife also works for Mayor Healy and actively campaigned for him. These are 2 people who have violated their positions of trust with the Republicans they serve. Also the argument a Republican candidate was not needed to run against Joe Doria is not valid. A Republican candidate would have been bracketed with George W. Bush and benefited from the party line in a way none of the other candidates could have. People vote down the line it is a common practice. Jose is also going to seek out Ton Kean Jr. as the next person he can leech off of. He has mad several disparaging remarks about Bret already, including a claim they broke ties with each other one Election Eve in Healy's campaign office. Jose is useless and we need a real Republican like Joe Mendez, Theresa DeLeon, or an up and comer from Hoboken. Jose's time has past and his 15 minutes are up. Time to move on because he is a lame duck Chairman already. Jose ain't okay and Anthony deep down you know it. You are only in it for the ad money he gets you!
