: : : JERSEY CITY- Former councilman E. Junior Maldonado found himself an unlikely candidate to a duel yesterday inside Goody's Chinese-Spanish-Pizza-Gyro take out on Newark Ave and Coles St when he seemed to take too long to place his order at lunchtime.
: : : "Its really hard to figure out whether you want Chinese food or platanos on a Wednesday afternoon" says one witness "so I can understand why he took so long. After being on line for more than five minutes the manager got a little flustered and said something not so nice."
: : : This witness declined to comment but another heard the manager's comment loud and clear.
: : : "The manager said 'Hurry up you! It's taking you about as long to order my food as it is to get a vote.'"
: : : Junior was polite and said he would not patronize the establishment again.
: : : The manager, still wearing his Fulop for councilman t-shirt, then proceeded to whip out an Isotoner glove in anticipation of whipping Maldonado across the cheek, an age old cry for a duel, which was blocked by Maldonado who is a Tai Chi hobbyist.
: : : Maldonado didn't back down. A duel is scheduled at Van Vorst Park Friday at 6pm. Refreshments and food will be catered by Goody's Chinese-Spanish-Pizza-Chicken restaurant.
