GOP taking elephant steps forward

UNION CITY, NJ – In a statement released by campaign manager Clarence U. Romero, Assemblyman Nominee, Rich Valdes stated the following:

“It’s clear as day! On one side you have about 230,000 Democrats that voted [229,800 to be exact] and on the other you have just under 300,000 Republicans that voted [291,120 final tallies from NJ ELEC]. Things look really good for Doug Forrester and the GOP this November. I thank all of the Republican voters for supporting any of the seven great choices that we had for Governor; we could not have done this without the ‘busy playing field’ in the Primary.

Valdes continued “As for our Primary results; it’s a step in the right direction. When we look at the comparison from the 2003 [33rd District] Assembly Primary to this Tuesday’s [2005 Primary], we see that the highest vote-getter [Brian Stack] got 47.33% of the votes in the Democratic Primary and I earned 50.39% of the vote in the Republican Primary. Of course this is no indication of a November win, but it is an encouraging step in the right direction considering the 2003 Republican Primary where we only earned approximately 250 votes per Assembly candidate.” said Valdes, after reviewing the election results provided by the Hudson County Clerk’s office.

“When we look at a year over year percentage increase from the 2003 to the 2005 elections we clearly won more ground. From 2003 to 2005 the Democratic Assembly Candidates in district 33 had a 7.8% increase in their Primary votes. Now, when you look at the percentage of increase in our Republican Primary we see a 354% increase which is indicative that the Republican Party is growing stronger at a much faster pace. In the same New Jersey is not for sale and there is hope!” exclaimed Valdes to a crowd of supporters and party regulars gathered with him to celebrate the huge Republican win in Tuesdays Primary.

Rich Valdes is the District 33 Republican Nominee for the New Jersey State Assembly in this November’s General Election. The Thirty-third Legislative District is in Hudson County and is comprised of Guttenberg, West New York, Union City, Weehawken, Hoboken and parts of Ward C and Ward E in Jersey City.
