: : : JERSEY CITY- Friday June 10th started out normal enough for one of Jimmy King's daily stops along Five Corners. Two "Super Tic-Tac-Toe" and "Pool Party Cash" scratch-offs at the newstand, a quick browse of the latest checkered slacks at Vitta's menswear, one quick pickup of the his present checkered slacks recently pressed at Marino's, a cup of coffee to go at Court Grill and then off to the place where every man or woman who wishes to attain prime meats in Ward C at Moloney's must first expect to get their shoes shuffled in the sawdust that grazes the floor. Mr. King's main problem was that he wasn't wearing any.
: : : "They're called booties. I took them from one of my stays at   Christ Hospital and they're like socks but they're not! Look,"
: : : Jimmy said as he showed me his soles. 
: : : "They have grips on the bottom so you can walk wherever you damn well please. Now this butcher is going to tell me I can't buy my pickled tripe because,in his words,'that campaign's gone to your head Jim. Take those socks somewhere else'? Well let me tell you something Whiskers, and I hope Moloney is reading this, I'm taking my business and my booties down to the other side of Newark Avenue and get my meats at that Halal place. They'll except me. Half of everyone down that end walk around without shoes for Christ's sakes!"
: : : Moloney's Meat Market cannot be reached for comment but other Five Corner establishments are rapidly putting up signs to enforce the age old "No shirt, No Shoes, No Service" policy. Except this time around "No booties" will join the restrictions. 
: : : "Lipski's behind this. Now I'm getting letters from Christ Hospital inquiring about their property. This town is for the birds."
