FOR RELEASE: Immediate CONTACT: Jason Butkowski SENATOR DORIA STATEMENT ON THE BUDGET TRENTON - Senator Joseph V. Doria, D-Hudson, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement regarding the approval of the Fiscal Year 2006 Budget: "This is a budget that the State can be proud of. "It fully funds rebates for seniors, and ensures that the most vulnerable in our society are not forgotten. "It is more stable than budgets past, with less dependence on non-recurring revenues and one-shot deals. "It is one of the first budgets in recent years that is actually less than last year's budget. We are controlling the size of State government, with the ultimate goal of crafting a responsive, lean body that addresses the concerns of the State. "We are funding the programs that matter to the people of New Jersey, and the ultimate beneficiaries will be the taxpayers, because we were able to meet our State's needs without significant tax increases. I am proud to have been a part of the process, and I am proud of the principles reflected so clearly in our Fiscal Year 2006 budget." ###
