: The Health and Human Resouces director Lamboy took a courageous step to followup state health officials strong recommendations and close down operations of Let's Celebrate. The food they fed our seniors was not fit for human consumption. The new food distributor is excellent. Word is they fed our emergency personnel on 9/11 at the World Trade Center. Good enough for our police and firemen good enough for our seniors ::You may think this is a courageous move but think about this - Mr. Lamboy and Mr. Eccleston showed poor planning in starting the use of the new food provider. If they had planned this correctly, they would have had proper vehicles and personnel ready to pick up where Let’s Celebrate left off. Use of the city recreational bus and personnel shows lack of thought. How many meals defrosted and spoiled? Many seniors cannot use a microwave for medical reasons. Many do not have a microwave because they are from a time when you cook your meals on a stove. Many do not have a microwave because they cannot afford one. Many seniors live in places where the meals were stolen. If this happened, they may very well had gone hungry for that day. By providing three days of meals (I had heard), those who were victims for one day now are victims for three days. Now, I am sure that if reported, arrangements will be made to provide replacement meals but that is not cost effective. Is this provider bringing the food in from Long Island? So much for "Jersey City first". Once again, we are not using our own talents and resources. While "word is" that this food was fed to our heroes of 9/11, I am sure this is not what motivates Mr. Lamboy and Mr. Eccleston. Both are opportunists.
