: KENNY DOING WELL AFTER SURGERY 

: NEW BRUNSWICK --- Senate Majority Leader Bernard F. Kenny Jr. today said he 
: expects to be released from Robert Wood Johnson Hospital on Saturday 
: following successful surgery for the removal of his prostate gland where 
: cancer had been detected during a routine test. 

: "I had a very successful surgery and I hope to return to work in the very 
: near future," said Senator Kenny, D-Hudson. "I've been informed that my 
: prognosis for a full recovery is excellent." 

: Senator Kenny, whose surgery on Thursday was performed by Dr. Ronald Morton, 
: stressed the importance of men getting tested for prostate cancer. 

: "My message to men is, 'Get tested,'" Senator Kenny said. "I did, they found 
: something and it was taken care of early on. That's the key." 

: The Senate Majority Leader said he would continue recuperating at_home in 
: Hoboken for a brief period before returning to his regular work schedule. 

: He said he was "extremely gratified" by the outpouring of support and 
: prayers for his recovery that he received from throughout the State. He also 
: praised the staff and the conditions for patients at the hospital.
