We have seen this before: a Democrat starts out with the purest of intentions, running as an "outsider" and a "reformer." He defeats the machine candidate, and then "mends fences" with his party's leaders. He is then made part of the machine he once assailed.

This perfectly illustrates the need for a real opposition party in Hudson County. The Republican Party could stand as the natural "party of reform." Unfortunately, however, the Republican Organization has been thoroughly infiltrated by the HCDO.
