At first I thought we should ignore these vicious attacks. But now I feel that a few corrections are in order... First, Scott Delea ran on a platform of immediate 10%-15% across-the-board spending reductions, with no talk of raising taxes. That's what attracted so many fiscal conservatives to his campaign. Scott Delea was not Howard Dean's field director. Carol Marsh, on the other hand, was endorsed by Howard Dean's "Democracy for America." The field of municipal candidates was so uninspiring that, aside from endorsing Scott Delea, it was decided that we'd simply let people decide for themselves which candidates represented the lesser evils. We didn't want to make endorsements for the sake of making endorsements. From what I could tell, a lot of HR's held their noses and voted for Marsh. Others chose to write in candidates. You call others RINO's, and then you proceed to cite Christine Todd Whitman as some kind of authority. I am forced to wonder if you even know what RINO means. You say the HR's take marching orders from a female RINO who answers to Sen. Kenny. I'd love to know who you're referring to. Do you mean their town's official Republican Municipal Committee chairwoman, who appears to have made two seperate $1,000+ donations to Rep. Menendez? I am fairly confident the HR's aren't taking any marching orders from her. I am frankly disappointed to see this latest dose of vitriol from you. Over the past few months, the HR's have been focused almost solely on helping the Forrester campaign. More recently they've expressed solidarity with a poor man who is fighting to defend his constitutional property rights. For the life of me I could never understand why our county's official party leadership came to view the HR's as a threat instead of the positive, highly-motivated force they are. I am reluctantly concluding that at least some of those in positions of leadership must not have the real interests of the party at heart.
