::Eleanor is still around. Talk about certifible. Well, at least she'll know how to fill out the papers to commit herself. : As the spokesperson for the Newport Waterfront Association, I feel compelled to drop you this note to set the record straight. By next Summer, we should all be able to enjoy a new section of the Hudson Riverfront Walkway, linking Hoboken and the Newport area of Jersey City because of the efforts of Senator Corzine and Congressman Menendez, who both worked to acquire the funding needed for this project. : Eleanor Capogrosso, an attorney, is a member of the NWA, clearly passionate about a security issue faced on the waterfront. Although we understand Eleanor's passion for this issue, she was never retained to represent NWA in this matter, and her letters, statements, and whatever faxes she may have sent out, represent her viewpoint, and not ours. : Indeed our association considers it paramount to create an evacuation plan for the Newport community, but we have been well-attended by the Senator's staff, and treated with the utmost courtesy and interest in our projects. As such, we hold the Senator in the highest regard, and appreciate his efforts on behalf of Jersey City, and Newport. In particular, we are grateful for his help in raising the needed funding to complete the Hudson Riverfront Walkway, and are confident he will continue to assist our community. : Mia Scanga and her group never bothered to confirm Eleanor's declaration with the NWA, and Eleanor released the statement to Mia without our knowledge or consent. So it should come as no surprise that the statement is filled with hyperbole, twisting of facts, falsehoods, and unfair claims against Senator Corzine. : We hope this helps clarify the situation. : : See: http://www.talkingpolitics.net/neighborhood_battles.htm : : He couldn't even help these people get a simple set of building plans from a corrupt local government official so that they could create an evacuation plan for their building, which just happens to be located on the most high-risk two-mile stretch in New Jersey. Is this really the kind of guy we want running our state?
