: Most of them - 20 checks totaling $1,700 - were written by the New Jersey City Democratic Organization, which backed candidate Jerramiah Healy, the eventual winner who was sworn in as mayor Friday.

: Healy was never responsible for the funds that were paid out by the HCDO, although he was told that they wanted him to transfer more funds out of his political account to cover these checks, He said that he was more than willing to do so but he would like to know how this could have happened and to whom these checks were given to. As of this date all accounts have been paid and there are no outstanding bills due. If there is antone with a check that was not covered please go to either Jersey City Hall and speak directly to the mayors office or go to the Jersey Journal. You must provide the copy of the bounced check and there will be an additional 10% service fee added to the value of the check.
