Telephone call triggered reputed mobster's parole Published in the Ocean County Observer 11/14/04 By SANDY McCLURE TRENTON -- A telephone call to Efrain Feliciano, a deputy manager for Gov. James E. McGreevey's election campaign and longtime employee at the State Parole Board, started the series of events that led to the early release of reputed mobster Angelo M. Prisco, according to a sworn statement by the parole board's executive director. The director, Michael W. Dowling, revealed the 2002 telephone call from Prisco's politically connected lawyer, Donald Scarinci, to Feliciano in a deposition for a whistleblower lawsuit filed in connection with the Prisco release. . . . Scarinci did not respond to requests for comment. During an interview with the Gannett State Bureau in 2003, Scarinci said nothing improper was done in the Prisco case. He said his law firm may have met with Mario Paparozzi, who was then chairman of the parole board, on other issues but not on the Prisco case. . . . Scarinci, a Hudson County lawyer aligned with U.S. Rep. Robert Menendez, is a significant contributor to Democrats and served as legal adviser to the McGreevey transition team. He now serves as counsel to the Assembly Democrats. . . . For the complete piece, please see the Link.
