In a surprised but not unexpected announcement, Gaughan announced he will run for Mayor of Jersey City in May 2004 for the four year term for mayor.

Gaughan and his daughter have been publically speaking about his run.

Gaughan went to Mayor Healy and told him the same, asking him to run for assembly. Healy tells Gaughan no deal and the Ward D Councilman told the mayor he was still running.

In other news, Manzo is runnning for Mayro with former acting Mayor L Harvey Smith running for his assembly position.

Question: is Manzo's 5th time the charm with the Healy/Gaughan split?
