A plan for Hudson County to purchase the cash-strapped NY Waterway ferry company has been reluctantly scrapped, proponents of the idea said yesterday.

The announcement came a day after the state Local Finance Board - the entity that signs off on bond sales by local governments - tabled a motion by the Hudson County Improvement Authority to raise $38 million through bond sales to purchase the company.
