A spokesman for Robert Menendez's office said that the Congressman was unable to attend the meeting due to a previous, long-standing commitment.

The spokesman went on to say that Congressman Menendez's office and the Governor's office already are in communication concerning Federal budget cuts, particularly to Homeland Security and medical coverage. It seems that these were the main topics of yesterday's meeting.

: Yesterday, Acting Governor Richard J. Codey met "with members of New Jersey s Congressional delegation to discuss matters important to the state."

: Congressmen Menendez and Rothman were amongst the missing.

: What was more important than a meeting with the Governor?
