Ramapo College professors met with acting Gov. Richard Codey's chief of staff this week to urge the governor to stay out of the school's search for a new president.

The state college's senior professors requested the meeting earlier this month after Codey began pushing for Bayonne Mayor and state Sen. Joseph V. Doria Jr. to get the job, even though he failed to make a short list chosen by a campus committee.
