JERSEY CITY, NJ - This Thursday, January 20, 2005 Democrats 2000 will be honoring young Democratic leaders within Hudson County who are under the age of 40. Jersey City's own Councilwoman, Kathleen Curran will be honored for her committed dedication to our community.
Councilwoman Kathleen Curran was recently appointed to Jersey City's City Council by Mayor Jerrarniah T. Healy. Kathleen is presently a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant with Sylvan Education Solutions_ She worked for the Jersey City Public School System from 1993 to 2000. During that time she received numerous community awards for developing The Urban Gardening Program in two of our local schools, with the assistance of The Liberty State Park Officials. For the past nine years she has been married to, Terrance Curran, a former Jersey City Police Officer, who is currently a attending medical school at The New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. The Curran family lives in the Greenville section of Jersey City, with their five-year old son, John Patrick.
"Kathy Curran, in her short term in office, has already proven to be an asset to The City and is a role model for young women with political aspirations in Jersey City," said Mayor Jerramiah Healy.
The Democrats 2000 will host their celebration highlighting the Councilwoman's accomplishments and several other prominent young Democratic leaders, Jeff Dublin JCPH, and Javier E. Inclan, Hudson City Clerk at The Oddfellows Restaurant in Hoboken, New Jersey. The Doors will be opened to the public at 6:00pm with a $25 cover charge. The program will start promptly at 6:15pm.
