At noon on Saturday, February 12, 2005 there will be a wreath laying ceremony and a short program at the statue of Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln Park, at the corner of Kennedy Boulevard and Belmont Avenue. Later that evening, in the Casino in the Park, in Lincoln Park, the 140th annual celebration of the Great Man's memory will commence with coc.ktails at 6:00 PM and dinner at 7:00 PM. Professor Joseph Fornieri of the Lincoln Forum will be the featured speaker. In addition, a program of patriotic music will be performed by Schola Cantorum on Hudson and a recreation by Dr. Jules Ladenheim of Lincoln's important speech at Cooper Union will be enjoyed. The Lincoln Association of Jersey City is the oldest group in the country to honor Abraham Lincoln, being formed the year after his death, and has never failed to honor his memory on his birthday. Participation at the wreath laying is free and tickets for the dinner at the Casino in the Park are only $50.
