"Mayor Cunningham to Break Ground on West Side Housing"
Mayor Heralds Project as Beginning of West Side Renaissance

JERSEY CITY - Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham will break ground on a new town house development, The Residences at Westside Station, to be built on the city's West Side at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2004 at the intersection of Mallory and Claremont avenues.

In the initial phase of the development, the first of its kind in the neighborhood, 52 units will be built, consisting of classically designed town houses, two-bedroom studios, as well as innovative lofts.

"The Residences at Westside Station will play a vital role in the birth of the Bayside Development," Cunningham said. "It is great to see new housing being built in this part of the city and seeing the Golden Neighborhood initiative reach each community. Development is no longer limited to the Gold Coast, but is spreading to our West Side and our Western Waterfront."

Cunningham said another positive feature of The Residences at Westside Station, is its proximity to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, which the complex was named after. The developer, Cathartes, plans additional phases of development at the site, with the second phase resulting in 32 additional units.////
