West of Whippany the highway sweeps forward to the blue barrier of
Watnong Ridge, an ancient continental seacoast that defines the entrance
from the east to the north Jersey lakeland.
At 13.4 miles is (L) a GREEK CATHOLIC CHURCH, built 1921 by a congregation of Ukrainian emigrees who settled about Malapardis Creek. It is
a one-story gray frame structure with a Greek cross surmounting its gilded,
onion-shaped turret.
If a businessmen's association were formed in the small settlement, one
man would constitute a quorum. Proprietor of the general store, he will

station.
Beginning at 14.2 m. both roadsides for 1.1 m. are fenced with high
steel mesh, marking the domain of the MCALPIN FARMS, with elaborate
barns and well-kept dwellings. Developed as a country retreat for a tired
Wall Street broker, the farm is locally famous for its milk.
