WHIPPANY, 12.2 miles (210 alt., 600 pop.), is a small industrial community. In four modern mills, cardboard is manufactured from wastepaper. Facing the main thoroughfare (R) is the old FIRST PRESBYTERIAN
CHURCH, a modest weatherbeaten wooden structure, its windows and
tower exactly like those of the one in Hanover (see above).
At Whippany is the junction with a tar and graveled road.
