From the Rural to the Industrial – East Rutherford
EAST RUTHERFORD, 19.9 miles (60 alt., 7,080 pop.), separated from
Rutherford to the S. only by the tracks of the Erie R.R., is an industrial
community that grew up around the Paterson Plank Rd. It was formerly
called Boiling Springs Township because of a spring that bubbled from
the earth.
