MOONACHIE (L), 19.1 miles (10 alt., 1,465 pop.), is a fertile oasis in
the marshland on a slight rise opposite Wood Ridge. The borough's name
is that of an Iroquois who invaded this region from New York and collected tribute long before pale-faced racketeers adopted his technique.
