PARAMUS, 11.5 miles (60 alt., 2,649 pop.), is an old Dutch farm community still growing vegetables for the city markets. A wide area on both
tides of State 2 is covered with a black muck, especially suited to celery
growing, giving Paramus the local name of Celery Town. Dutch colonists
first settled here in 1666.
At 13.6 miles is the junction with State 4, a concrete paved road.
