At 20.9 miles is the junction with a hard-surfaced road.
Right on this road down a ramp to ALLENWOOD, 1 mile (122 alt.), in the valley
of the Manasquan River. This small summer resort is the home of a modern
COUNTY TUBERCULOSIS HOSPITAL, on Squankum Rd.
At 22.9 miles, at a traffic circle, is the junction with State 35 (see Tour 22).
At 23.8 miles (R) a granite marker with a bronze tablet marks the SITE
OF THE EXECUTION OF SEVEN TORY BANDITS, including their chief. Capt.
Samuel Allen, leader of the Minute Men of the New Jersey Coast, was
the executioner.
