ATLANTIC CITY, 0 mile (15 alt., 66,198 pop.) (see ATLANTIC
CITY).
Points of Interest: Model Home of America, Million Dollar Pier, Steel Pier,
Heinz Pier, Stanley S. Holmes Village (low cost housing project), and others.
Left from Virginia Ave. on Absecon Blvd., which crosses the four inlets
that separate Atlantic City from the mainland. Grassgrown marshes, occasionally glimpsed through an unending panorama of road signs, extend
for miles, providing shelter and food for large flocks of water birds.
On the mainland, the road runs through several miles of salt marsh
along Absecon Bay (R). The meadow grass here is used for bedding cattle and as a packing material.
