PEQUEST, 62.4 miles (450 alt.), appears as a single brown frame house
(R) bravely marked with a street number, 1. The house is one of a series
of dwellings that served as boarding houses for workers employed at a
blast furnace nearby. The furnace has long since been abandoned; other
houses are well off the highway (L).
At 63.6 miles is the junction (L) with State 30 (see Tour 15). A triple-arch stone bridge over the river here (L) bears a double burden: the Lehigh and Hudson R.R., which crosses the bridge, is itself crossed by the
Lackawanna R.R.
