Jersey City is in the hands of Bill Ayala because of his undue influence over Glenn Cunningham. This ambitious careerist has no qualification, no resume, no background, no experience,no talent, no people skills, no personality, no intelligence, no ability to communicate, lead, manage, or anything else. His one asset is his deathgrip on the attention and confidence and trust of one profoundly stupid Mayor. Ayala blocks access to the Mayor by all others but a handfull, not including any city employees. McGee cannot see the Mayor if he wants to. McGee is a talented, competent, experienced, qualified professional with a mind-blowing skill set, but is unable to do most of the things that he would do if given a free hand. All this is blocked and stifled by Ayala, with a generous assist from that curious growth on the Mayor's buttocks, Eugene Drayton, aka Deputy Dawg. Sengco barely speaks English, let alone grasps finance, but is obsequious to Ayala and so fares better. Ayala thinks that she can deliver Filipino votes. She could not deliver Filipino food. No self respecting Filipino restaurant would have Imelda Jr. working there if she were not the owner. Together she and Ayala could not balance their check books, yet they have taken over all the finance functions between them. McGee's advisor came up with a comprehensive solution to the City's finance problems that was praised by the State of New Jersey, analyzed and also praised by Goldman Sachs, though they are not party to the transaction and Bond Rating services. But in their infinite wisdom and based on his many years of financial experience, Ayala put the kabosh on the plan saying it was "too much." He never did explain "compared to what" Now the council opposition has picked up the mantra, chanting "too much" and the whole thing has degenerated into a negotiation over how much of a tax increase there ought to be, not whether there should be one. No tax increase would have been needed for many years if McGee's advisor's plan had been let pass. Now thanks to Ayala it is a question of how much of a tax increase there will be. This is just one of many Ayalisms where this 32 year old former truck driver has derailed the administration. There is a consistent pattern of this intrusion by Ayala into areas where he clearly knows nothing yet asserts his will over qualified personnel. Makes you wonder who this guy really works for and what his career goals truly are. Once is a screw up. Twice is too many. Ayalism occurs continually. Sabotage pure and simple.
