Ocean Grove-Freehold-Hightstown-Trenton; State 33.
State 33 runs west across the State between the ocean shore and Delaware River. It traverses a belt of sandy soil with scrub growth and thin
settlement, then the rolling hill country and prosperous farmlands of Monmouth, the State's leading potato area, and scene of the Battle of Monmouth. At the western end are Trenton with its industrial and suburban
district, and a number of small villages dating from the early Quaker settlements.
Junction with State 4N to Trenton, 43.3 miles.
The Pennsylvania R.R. parallels the road between Jerseyville and Freehold and between Hightstown and Yardville.
Good accommodations.
Modern 3-lane concrete roadbed.
