State of New Jersey The Department of Education, Office of Compliance Investigation, has completed a limited review of the financial and administrative operations of CREATE Charter High School. The review disclosed violations of N.J.S.A. 18A:18A, N.J.S.A. 10:4 and N.J.A.C. 6A:23-7.1 that are detailed in the attached Report of Examination_ Please provide a copy of the report to each board member. The bidding violations identified in the report require a refund of State Aid to the Department of Education, Division of Finance. Based on the report findings, the amount of General Fund State Aid that must be refunded by the CREATE Board of Trustees is $245,709.56. The Department's Division of Finance will notify the school district regarding the timing of the State Aid recovery. Utilizing the process outlined in the attached "Procedures for LEA/Agency Audit Response, Corrective Action Plan and Appeal Process," the CREATE Board of Trustees is required to publicly review and discuss the findings in this report at the next regularly scheduled public board meeting and either develop a corrective action plan, on the form provided, or file an appeal to the findings. A certified copy of the board minutes recorded when this matter is under consideration, along with the completed corrective action plan, must he sent to this office within 45 days of the date of this letter.
