South Amboy-Red Bank-Point Pleasant-Lakewood; State 35.
State 35 runs east and south, serving many of the northern New Jersey
shore resorts. From the shore of Lower New York Bay the highway cuts
inland, passing old villages in a rolling farm country. Between Neptune
City and Manasquan Inlet the road is close to the ocean shore; it then
swings inland to Lakewood in the pine lands.
South Amboy to Lakewood, 45.9 miles.
Between South Amboy and Red Bank the New York and Long Branch R.R. parallels
the route.
Good accommodations at close intervals; sea food served at most restaurants.
Fine concrete roadbed three lanes wide.
